Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the Trig app handles your information. For privacy questions, contact trig@windybank.net.

Your data remains your data

I have no interest in selling your personal data or building profiles about you. Trig does not track you across apps or websites. Bradley Windybank does not collect your personal track library or store your tracks, routes and waypoints on servers operated by Bradley Windybank. Trig does not upload that library to Bradley Windybank.

Your saved information stays on your devices and, when iCloud is available, in your private iCloud storage. Some features need network transfers, including iCloud synchronisation, weather requests and Apple Maps searches. Those transfers are explained below. You choose whether to share an export or send me information for support.

Your saved information

Your saved library includes the tracks, routes, waypoints, notes, favourites, search history and settings you create or import, along with any saved trip and packing-list information. Trig stores this library only in the app on your devices and, when available, in your private iCloud storage. Trig does not upload a copy of your saved library to any other servers. Copies you deliberately export or share are covered separately below. Trig does not require a separate Trig account.

Location and recording

With your permission, Trig uses your location to show your position, find nearby places, record tracks and provide navigation. Recording can use location while the app is in the background. Recorded tracks can include coordinates, timestamps, elevation, movement and accuracy information. Trig also uses motion and barometer readings where available to improve recorded elevation.

You can manage location and motion permissions in iOS Settings. Turning off permissions may prevent the corresponding features from working.

iCloud

When available, Trig uses Apple's iCloud services to synchronise saved information between your devices signed in to the same iCloud account. This includes saved tracks, routes, waypoints, trips, favourites, search history and supported settings. Apple processes this information under its own terms and privacy policy. Bradley Windybank does not operate a separate server containing your personal track library.

Apple Health

If you choose to save a recording as a workout and grant permission, Trig writes the workout and its route to Apple Health. Trig does not read your existing Health records. Health access can be managed in the Health app or iOS Settings. Deleting a track in Trig does not necessarily delete the corresponding workout in Apple Health.

Online services

Features such as Apple Maps search, weather forecasts, map downloads and current alerts contact their service providers. A weather request may include the coordinates of the place you are viewing. Place searches send the search text and relevant search area to Apple. Network requests necessarily expose information such as your IP address to the service receiving the request.

Trig uses Apple services, Department of Conservation alerts and MetService alerts where applicable. Public information bundled in the app can be used offline. Opening an external website, including a forecast or information link, is subject to that site's privacy policy.

Trig Plus

Apple processes subscription purchases and payments. Trig receives verified transaction and subscription information to determine access to Plus features, including eligible Family Sharing access. Trig stores subscription status and any offline renewal deadline on the device. Bradley Windybank does not receive your payment-card details.

Family Sharing shares subscription access. It does not share your personal tracks and waypoints with family members through Trig.

Exports, sharing and deletion

You can export your saved personal data from User > Export all my data, including without an active Plus subscription. The export contains data available on the device, so allow iCloud synchronisation to finish first if you use multiple devices. When you save or share an export, you choose its destination. The receiving app or service handles that copy under its own policies.

Ending a subscription does not delete your saved data. Deleting the app removes its local app data, but iCloud, Apple Health and copies you have exported may remain. Manage those copies in the relevant Apple settings or destination. Contact me if you need help finding the appropriate controls.

Advertising, analytics and support

Trig does not include advertising or third-party analytics SDKs. Apple may provide diagnostic reports and App Store or TestFlight information according to your Apple settings and Apple's services. If you contact me, I receive the information you choose to send and use it to respond to your request. Avoid sending private track files unless they are needed to resolve an issue you want me to investigate.

I may update this policy when Trig's features or data handling change. The date above identifies the latest version of this policy.
